In what could be seen as a disappointing move for action film lovers, the Telangana government is all set to ban the films which will feature racy chase sequences involving motorbikes, cars and even speedboats. The government reportedly took this decision following a series of horrible road accidents across the state, which are resulting in loss of several lives.
Already, a notification has been sent to the Film Chamber, Producer's Council, Director's Association and even actors to censor such pulsating chase sequences in their upcoming films. Taking a cue from the Uttar Pradesh government which imposed a strict ban on films that show scenes of traffic violation from June, the T-government decided to keep a check on the film-crazy youths imitating their favorite stars and losing lives or seriously injuring themselves in road accidents.
Usually, most youths, also including many teenagers from high society families, participate in midnight bike and car races on the Hyderabad streets. Often, these fun rides end up with deadly consequences, resulting in deaths and near fatal injuries.
However, T-government's decision met with mixed response from Tollywood and common people, who feel that the government should strictly impose traffic rules and that banning chase scenes in films will not provide a permanent solution to the issue.
